It's a favourite with Brazilians and visitors who want to get away from it all in an historic town, laze on one of the many beaches, and indulge in a restful holiday break.

Minas Gerais – the region where the gold mined was transported along the Caminho do Ouro (The Golden Trail) all the way to Paraty. The area is often described as ‘The Tuscany of Brazil’ famous for its villas, churches and European architecture, the unique mix of African, native American and Portuguese influenced gastronomy, and the natural and extraordinary eco tourism in its many state parks.

Iguaza Falls – stradling the border of Brazil and Argentina these 275waterfalls (along 1.5 miles of the Iguaza River) are considered among the most impressive on Earth and often described as “an ocean pouring into an abyss”.
